昨日は三重県鈴鹿市にある「アフリカの田んぼ」で除草作業を行ってきました。普段の生活ではなかなか体験できない田んぼでの作業に、心地よい達成感を感じました。暑さが続く中、仲間たちと協力して雑草を一つ一つ丁寧に取り除いていく作業は、忍耐力も鍛えられる素晴らしいものでした。

このアフリカの田んぼでは、毎年アフリカのマリ共和国に救援米を送るため、9月6日に稲刈りイベントが予定されています。それまでの約3週間、私たちが手入れした稲が大きく実り、立派に成長することを心から願っています。当日は多くの方々が参加し、田んぼで過ごすひとときを楽しんでいただけると幸いです。農作業を通じて、自然の豊かさや人とのつながりを再認識し、大切にしていきたいと思っています。

Yesterday, I worked on weeding at the "African Rice Field" in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture. Performing tasks in the rice fields—something rarely experienced in everyday life—gave me a pleasant sense of accomplishment. The work of carefully removing each weed one by one together with friends, despite the ongoing heat, was a wonderful opportunity to build patience.

At this African Rice Field, a rice harvesting event is scheduled for September 6th every year to send relief rice to the Republic of Mali in Africa. I sincerely hope that over the next three weeks, the rice we have tended will bear abundant grain and grow splendidly. On the day of the event, I would be delighted if many people participate and enjoy spending time in the rice fields. Through agricultural work, I have come to once again recognize the richness of nature and the importance of our human connections, which I wish to cherish.
